Picture this: turquoise waters, shell-covered beaches, and green mountains that appear to be as though they’re touching the sky.
Sounds like heaven, but you don’t have to just imagine it; it’s an actual place. Enter: St. Barths. This French-speaking volcanic island off the Caribbean coast is famed for its turquoise waters, gourmet dining, and a harbor that gleams with luxury yachts. The definition of paradise? I’d say.
Fortunately for you, Sofia Burity embarked on a blissful family getaway to St. Barths, and she captured plenty of unforgettable moments. From idyllic beaches that will leave your jaw on the floor to must-visit restaurants because recommendations from a devout foodie never disappoints.
Sofia’s journey unveils the wonders of the island. If you’ve been wanting to travel to St. Barths, I’m pretty sure you’ll find Sofia's unique perspective inspiring enough to book that flight and travel there yourself.
St. Barths Beaches
When you travel to St. Barths beaches are a given—and that was exactly at the top of Sofia's travel itinerary. Everywhere you go, crystal blue waters are surrounded by lush green mountains. It’s without a doubt paradise.
“You can find private beaches on almost every corner if you look hard enough.”
While she explored several stunning spots, it was Shellona Beach that truly stole her heart. "There’s no sand, just seashells," Sofia shares. A rare and unforgettable sight, and it's one of the island's most unique treasures. “It [the island] seems big but in fact it is very small, and you can find private beaches on almost every corner if you look hard enough,” Sofia shares.
There are beach clubs and restaurants to enjoy, including La Guerite which has two locations; its beach club location serves lunch. This was one of Sofia'a favorite spots.
What to Do In St. Barths
When you travel to St. Barths make sure to go beyond the beaches, too. Gustavia is packed with hidden gems. "I highly recommend renting a moke and exploring the island," Sofia suggests. And ask the waitstaff about their favorite local spots—it’s the perfect way to experience the island from a different perspective, away from the tourist crowds.
St. Barth’s gourmet scene is also not to be missed, and Sofia took full advantage. Her top recommendation? Bonito. "Bonito offers an amazing view of Gustavia. The Chilean sea bass was unforgettable—still thinking about it," Sofia shares. The food was so good, she joked that she’d bring home every chef if she could. "Not one bad dish. If you're a foodie like my mom and me, St. Barths has to be on your bucket list." Did you write that down?
What to Pack With You When You Travel to St. Barths
Upon knowing she was going to travel to St. Barths with her family, Sofia was sure to pack resort pieces fit for a tropical oasis. Her choices were, she shares, “classy and sophisticated while still keeping it beachy, which is always something I need in an outfit.”
